General Info

Tucked along 2641 Television Rd, Peterborough, ON K9L 0E1, Canada, Chef Basel Cuisine is one of those restaurants that feels welcoming the moment you step through the door. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, making it an easy spot for a quick lunch or a laid-back meal with friends. From the moment I arrived, the place had that comfortable diner energy-simple, friendly, and focused on good food. The location is easy to reach, and the wheelchair accessible entrance makes it convenient for everyone visiting the restaurant.

The menu at Chef Basel Cuisine leans toward hearty comfort food, and it delivers exactly what you hope for from a neighborhood restaurant. One of the first dishes that caught my attention was the Crispy Chicken Linguine. The pasta comes together with tender, crispy chicken pieces that add texture and flavor to every bite. It’s the kind of dish that feels both satisfying and balanced, especially when you’re in the mood for something warm and filling.

Another standout from the menu is the Canadian Burger and Fries. Burgers can say a lot about a restaurant, and this one definitely makes a good impression. The burger is juicy and flavorful, paired with classic fries that arrive hot and crispy. If you enjoy bold flavors, the Bacon Bacon Burger and Fries is another popular pick. As the name suggests, it’s loaded with smoky bacon that gives the burger an extra layer of richness.

Sandwich lovers will probably gravitate toward the Philly Steak Sandwich, which has become a favorite among regular diners. The steak is tender and savory, packed into a satisfying sandwich that works perfectly for lunch. Meanwhile, lighter starters like the Spring Rolls offer a crunchy option to kick off the meal. They’re simple but well prepared, and they fit nicely alongside the heartier mains on the menu.

Drinks and service options round out the experience at Chef Basel Cuisine. The restaurant offers coffee, beer, and hard liquor, so there’s something available whether you’re stopping by for a quick midday bite or relaxing with a drink during lunch. The staff keeps things moving smoothly, and the service feels friendly without being rushed.

Overall, Chef Basel Cuisine brings together comfort food, a welcoming setting, and dependable service in one easygoing location. It’s the type of restaurant where the menu feels familiar, the portions are satisfying, and the experience is relaxed enough that you’ll probably find yourself coming back again. Many diners mention the consistency of the food in their reviews, and after spending some time here, it’s easy to understand why the place has built a steady reputation among local lunch spots in Peterborough.

“ What a wonderful surprise!! Came here because it was convenient on the way home from Trent University. WOW! Food was amazing! Great portions and very friendly staff. Will definitely be stopping again. Had the salmon tower (wow!) Margarita Pizza, pad Thai and pasta bolognese. Looking forward to trying the other dishes we couldn’t decide from. ”

“ Relaxed family atmosphere and friendly people. I go in for the bacon bacon burger. The beef is excellent flavour, stacked with battered fried bacon and onion rings it is a feast. Lettuce Tomato and Onion of course. I had mine with a salad and it was artfully presented with a lovely dressing. Delicious. My friend had the burger with fries and he couldn't eat it all. Prices are very good and the quality excellent. ”

“ We stopped in while driving around the area looking for butter tarts, and it was excellent. The pizza crust is crisp and airy, and the steak wrap has lots of grilled steak in it. The fries are fresh and crunchy too. The service is prompt and friendly. As a restaurant attached to a gas station, I didn’t expect this level of deliciousness, but all the previous reviews were telling the truth. Chef Basel Cuisine is a must-do in Peterborough. ”

“ Had a great experience here! The staff was super friendly and attentive really made us feel welcome without being overbearing. We ordered a steak and a couple of appetizers, and everything was on point. The steak was cooked perfectly, super tender and flavorful. Apps were just as good. It was fresh, well-seasoned, and came out fast. Overall, it’s definitely a place worth checking out. Good vibes, great food, and solid service. We’ll definitely be back! ”

“ We found this place on our way back to Toronto for lunch. It was right on the way. They have versatile menu options. We tried butter chicken pizza and sausage penne pasta. The taste, portions and value for money was all 10/10. Pizza was soo big, and full of flavours, the pasta was very filling, had a lot of veggies and sausage and this was all grrar value for money food. I also had green tea which was served on a cute pot. The staff is very nice too, two amazing ladies served us. We would go again since it isn’t too far from Toronto. ”

“ Attached to a gas station, very unassuming but the food & value can’t be beat! Fish tacos (listed as appetizers) is huge & delicious; the club sandwich was made with real chicken breast, not processed chicken slices. Fries were hot & crispy, gravy was a bit too salty. Overall good, would recommend going! ”

“ First time there. On Television Rd on the outskirts of Peterborough. Attached to a Petro Canada gas station. My wife and I went for lunch. The menu offered a diverse selection of foods, from standard breakfast fare through numerous sandwich, wrap and burger options. Plus. Pizza, Pasta and more exotic dishes like Pad Thai and Curries. Even old standards like liver and onions. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. It came with a giant portion of fresh cut fries and was served on a toasted and included a generous amount of roast beef, peppers and onions plus cheese. Delicious. My wife ordered the Fish and Chips. Two pieces of Haddock on top of a mountain of fries. Served with Fresh Coleslaw, lemon Wedges and Tartar Sauce. We both ordered coffee as we were a bit chilled. It was good. Both of left fries on our plates. Friendly staff in a nice environment. ”
